Biography
Yeni Toro,
Singer, composer and author,
born in Havana, Cuba, became passionate about dancing, singing,
theatre and poetry, beginning at the age of 7.
In Cuba, Yeni gained various musical experiences in cabarets with a dance group, as well as her first singing performances in clubs, discos and hotels in Havana and Varadero. She became known on Cuban radio as a singer with the group Eurohavana. At the Karl Marx Theatre in Havana, she took part in various cultural festivals in which she sang ballads, boleros (Latin soul) and typical Cuban rhythms in the style of Buena Vista Club, Guaracha, Son, Guajira, Mambo, Salsa and others.
Yeni came to Germany in February 2011. It only took 2 weeks and she was on stage at the Bayrischer Rundfunk carnival ball with Brazil Connection and Aquarela Do Brazil alongside the Big Band Hugo Strasser. This was immediately followed by the BMW World Munich carnival ball. With Brazil Connection she sang well-known Brazilian songs in the style of Samba, Jazz and Bossa Nova in Portuguese. Other performances opened up for her such as at the famous Jazzclub Unterfahrt Munich, the Skyline Munich, the benefit concert "Ana rumba pa Africa" at the Freiheizthalle Munich, the Munich Trade Fair Centre and the Riem racecourse.
In 2012, Yeni made great appearances at the Funkball of the Bayrischer Rundfunk and the Chip Award of the Cebit Hannover with Brazil Connection and Aquarela Do Brazil and at the Grand Final Gala Election of the 1st Wine Princess in Schweinfurt. 2013, however, became her year.
She also sings in English and composed her own incomparable songs, which she presents in her concerts. She performed at the Bayrischer Hof Nightclub in Munich and at the Chemnitz Opera Ball, as well as at the Leipzig Trade Fair with Brazil Connection. Numerous performances distinguish Yeni's uniqueness, at the Karneval de Caribe, Munich, at the Club Latinos Munich and at the Almex Praterinsel trade fair in Munich, as well as other concerts at the Künstlerhaus Munich, the Amambay Weilheim and other venues such as the Salsa Fashion Night in Obergünzburg, the Thermen Geinberg in Austria and the Hotel Scalaria at the Wolfgangssee in Austria. In 2014/15 they added the Hotel Don Carlos in Marbella Spain, Sophie's Alm in Landshut, Hirschau Englischer Garten Munich, and the Kurhaus Bad Tölz, Cuban Nightfly in Zorneding Munich Tratoria Limone and at Lake Zurich Switzerland.
Yeni's unique voice combined with her talent and the constant growth of her musical range, without forgetting her Cuban roots, distinguish this extraordinary artist.
